Mike Riordan

Mike Riordan is a Pharmacist and Company Director. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife Nicki and their three boys Ben, Max and Luke, making use of all the great outdoor activities that Taupō has on offer; The Lake, Mountains, and MTB trials. For “Mike time” he enjoys getting out on his Road, MTB or e-bike. He also loves spending time with mates, or slaying snapper in the Coromandel.

Mike says his reason for signing up is all about having fun, learning new skills and raising money for a worthwhile organisation like Life Education Trust Central Plateau.

“The opportunity I have been given to be part of Dancing for Life Education in partnership with Penny Homes aligns well with my beliefs that the education of our children is a community responsibility, of which Life Education Trust is part of. For me, it is important to be able to support an organisation like Life Education Trust Central Plateau and give back where and when I can.”

Mike says that personally he is also looking forward to adding to his dance skills, which currently include the air guitar, the robot and the sprinkler, and to gain confidence that will allow him to hit a dance floor earlier into the evening.

Rosanne Jollands

Rosanne Jollands is a Taupō District Councillor and trustee for Life Education Trust Central Plateau.

Downtime to relax is quite a luxury for Rosanne these days with four children, a lifestyle block and two jobs. But when she can get some time she enjoys taking her TR7 for a road trip, walking the dogs and boxing with her girls.

Rosanne says “I’ve always been a fan of the Life Ed team and what they do; educating and inspiring our children to embrace positive choices, to celebrate who they are. This event is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and funds to support what they do.

My name means “rose of grace”, which has always been a source of amusement for my father. He suggested that maybe they should have called me by another name, especially since I have a tendency to be very heavy footed. Growing up Dad called me “Bumblegirl”. I have never danced and have a real fear of dancing in public. However, I love a challenge and nothing like dancing in public to get you focussed. Maybe I can learn to tread more carefully and gracefully after this?

Whatever the outcome, I am sure it’s going to be fun along the way and all made even better because it’s for a good cause.”
