Libby O’Brien
I’m Libby, a Taupō local who when I’m not beavering away trying to make the world a better place at Taupō District Council, I’m riding my mountain bike on the trails or fly fishing in our local rivers. A self-confessed outdoorsy type, dancing in front of an audience in a dress is probably not my most comfortable space, but when I was asked to be a part of this year’s DFLE I had to say yes. I still remember learning from Harold the Giraffe about how stomach acid would burn through the floor of the Life Education Trust truck when I was 10 years old, so Life Education Trust has a special place in my heart. I couldn’t think of a better organisation to support at a time where the world is a confusing and complicated place for our Tamariki and Rangatahi. What Life Education Trust teaches our district’s kids through memorable learning experiences is something I’m keen to support – even if it does mean flaunting myself outside of my comfort zone in October!
Mike Bennett
Hello, everyone! I'm Mike Bennett, a Taupō local coming up 30 years enjoying what our area offers - fishing, hunting and sports. As my girls have grown up I remember their primary school days with Harold the Giraffe and the positive impact it had, and feel it is time to give back to our community. Now, I'm eager to step out of my comfort zone, both physically and socially. I've got this itch to get a bit fitter and, who knows, maybe unveil some hidden dance moves! So, here's to new experiences, and maybe a few laughs along the way
